Gandhi Stamps Bloc feuillet value : Haute-Volta Gandhi and Albert John Stamp, Senegal Gandhi Stamp, Tchad Gandhi and MLK and Kennedy stamp, Niger Gandhi, MLK and John Kennedy Stamp, Mauritania Gandhi and Martin Luther King stamp : Stamp price is declining.

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

In 1969 to celebrate Gandhi 100th Birth Anniversary lot of countries issued stamp. Some countries only issued single stamp where as other smaller countries issued multiple stamp in a sheet with other famous leader during that time.

I think African countries like Niger, Tchad, Senegal and other issued sheet just to make it more expensive because they want to  get more money by making different thematic collectors( Gandhi, MLK and Kennedy collectors)  to fight for that sheets.!!

But I was surprised when I saw value of this stamp sheet sold on various auction internet auction sites. It's barely selling  between $2-3.!!!

I still think this is expensive because dealers are protecting their collection value by bidding on this item. Otherwise I don't think there are many buyer for this kind of sheets.!!

World wide stamp collection is decreasing because lost of interest in this hobby so beware of pricing before you buy it.

After 40+ years if this Gandhi sheets with Martin Luther King and John Kennedy and Robert Kennedy is selling at such a low value. So I think Gandhi stamp hobby is on downward path.

Again thanks for reading and  please share your thoughts in the comments section or you can email me at ketankumar@gmail.com.

Gandhi Stamps sheet - sheetlet from Cameroun Gabon Tchad Niger Mauritania Upper-Volta issued in 1968 - 1969. Does it make sense in Gandhi Collection.!!

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

Recently I was researching about Gandhi Stamps from Africa and I was surprised after looking at it.

In 1969, it was Gandhi 100th Birth Anniversary and  it was one of most popular event around the world for Gandhi Philatelist and more than 40+ countries issued stamp of him to honor Mahatma Gandhi.

All 6 sheetlets looks similar and looks like printed at same printing press.!! All of this countries except Tchad issued stamp in 1968.!! Not sure why!!

Also not sure why all this 6 countries did not design differently. My guess is they were following Gandhiji's principles of simplicity.!!!

Again to all new collectors think before you start collecting and see what is the real philatelic. It's not just stamps and sheetlets.!!! If you collect stamp sheetlet like this I think it will not appreciate too much as there are more then enough for all Gandhi Collectors.

John Kennedy and Robert Kennedy were famous in 1960 because of president and their assasination, but my research indicates that thematic collection of Kennedy's are not popular any more lot of stamps and sheetlets are coming in market. I think same is the case with MLK. It's surprising to see this kind of decline in thematic collection of certain leaders.

I think Gandhi popularity is gaining because economic in India is doing very good since last 10+ years and also lot of NRI who went to foreign countries on H1 Visa are coming back to their childhood hobby so it's in great demand and trying to collect all.!!  But I am not sure how long it will continued and will sustain this kind of popularity of this thematic hobby.!!

Even after this popularity this sheetlet are selling some where between $1-$3 and I think it's a reasonable price after 40+ years.!!

Tchad Gandhi Stamp - Why you will quit Gandhi Philately or Stamps Collections - Part-2

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

Continued with my previous blog post about "Why you will quit Gandhi Philately", I am writing part -2 of this so collector knows what to look for.

In 1969 Tchad honored Mahatma Gandhi by issuing stamp to celebrate his 100th Birth Anniversary. Tchad issued stamp, Miniature Sheet and FDC of Mahatma Gandhi with MLK, John Kennedy and Robert Kennedy.

Stamp is available currently as of 10/12/11 for 0.90 euros.!! Check it out if you want to buy it.

Tchad stamp for 0.90 euros. (all 4 stamps.!!)

According to recent trends price of stamp is around 50 cents and MS sheet is between $1-$2 and FDC somewhere around 10$. If you pay more than chances are you will quit this hobby.

Check price of Tchad Gandhi stamps.

Following are TCHAD Gandhi Stamp, Miniature Sheet and FDC.

Now let's do some research on 2 types of  First Day Cancellation. One was taken from FDC and other from Max Card.  Now look closely at very closely type of alphabet used and it's position and you will see the difference.
From FDC
From Max Card

I have generally avoided Max-card of Mahatma Gandhi because there are more chances of been cheated. Good one to buy is from USA, UK, Spain.

I question Cancellation of Max Card.  What do you think?

It's very easy to make this kind of simple postmark cancellation in today world with all modern technology.

Now if you have this kind of Max Card you will defenitely quit Gandhi Philately.

Price of Tchad Gandhi stamp sold on delcampe.

Thanks

How to create Gandhi Error stamps

Hello Gandhi Philatelic Collectors,

I was looking for Gandhi error stamp for my collection to make unique than all of you !! and I was surprised how many Gandhi Error stamps are available in market today.

Now first let talk about types of error in stamps. There are different types of errors in stamp whiile printing or designing and the errors are Design error, Value error, Omission error, Invert error, Color error, Paper error, Imperforate error and others.

But in Gandhi stamps I only found 2 types of error.

1) Imperforate error (Perforations are missing or incorrect)
2) Color error (Stamp is printed in the wrong color)

As we can understand that Imperforate error are genuine error as it was due to human or machine error while imperforating the stamp sheet in the machine. So I will only discuss about color (faded) error.

But about the color error I was little bit curious about it so I went to stamp show and ask one of the expert and he explained me about what's going on with this COLOR error stamp. I also did my own research on this topic and I was surprised how easy is to CREATE ERROR STAMP.

1) By keeping certain part of stamp in Sunlight for few days
2) By using bleach on stamp

3) God knows....

Following are some of the example of Gandhi color error stamp. I am not sure whether this is printing machine issue or man made by exposing various methods to do it. It's upto collector to judge this stamps before they buy or use some experts help(not me.!!).

Check some of the amazing FAKE color error stamps. It's worth to look and understand what is and can be possible.

If not sure than try it out. It's not that hard. Just waste 2-3 stamps and you will get error Gandhi stamps.

Now let's talk about REAL Gandhi stamp error.

Look at following block of Gandhi Hungary Stamp. This is the REAL (Genuine) color error stamp in which color(black) itself is missing and because of that you can't see other letters on the stamps. This is not a example of faded color error but it's REAL.

This Hungary Gandhi stamp is the genuine color (missing) error which was sold on ebay for 1246 US $. Also you can find more info about this in Maulik's blog post by clicking following link.
