Cameroun Gandhi Stamps on Used Cover is for sale on delcampe.!!

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

I saw Cameroun used cover with Gandhi stamps  for auction on delcampe. Only 3 days left for auction to end. Following is the screen shot of that cover.

1968 Gandhi stamps is used in 1991.!!

Not sure what will be price of Gandhi  Cameroun Commercial used cover will be.!! As per previous auction it sold for 450+.!! Read previous blog post about Expensive Commerical used covers from Cameroun.!!

http://gandhiphilately.blogspot.com/2010/02/why-cameroun-commerically-used-covers.html

You can click following URL to see it.

http://delcampe.net/page/item/id,149693843,var,Cameroun-APOTRES-DE-LA-PAIX-BONABERI-VERS-DOUALA-18-03-1991-ARRIVEE-30-GHANDI,language,E.html

While looking at this cover it looks genuine but my only concern is CDS  on Gandhi stamp only. (not on cover and stamp). It's starting price is somewhere between 65-70$.

I use to bid on this kind of used covers but I stopped it. Day by day my trust on used cover is declining because of my research on all kind of possibilities in Philately.!!! It required lot of research for this kind of used covers.

Let see how much this cover sells for. Previous 2 covers were sold for very high price, but looking to it's use in 1991 I don't see it will get what we saw for other 2.

What do you think about this cover. ?

BTW :- Last week this seller sold Cameroun FDC for $150.!! Not sure why this price shoot up so needs to look in to this.!!! I know why and now you need to find out. It's very simple.!!

Thanks for reading

Mahatma Gandhi Stamp Value is on decline again - 1968 Cameroun Gandhi ( Cameroon Ghandi ) FDC

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

You all saw what is the price of Mahatma Gandhi 1968 FDC from Cameroun sold on Delcampe. It was sold for $91 which means that Gandhi Stamp/Philately PRICE IS ON DECLINE.

This is how it is sold in last 3 years.

4/26/2008 --- $294
3/09/2009 --- $266 ($150) (my purchase, how I was fooled.!!)
3/07/2010 --- $214
5/14/2010 --- $179
????          --- $120-150
1/28/2011 --- $112
5/31/2011 --- $91

I think this are still INFLATED price of Cameroun Gandhi FDC. ( Cameroon Ghandi FDC )
I think this is also on high because there are 2000 total (and not sure there are total 2000 Gandhi collectors who can afford this.) so my guess is next time it will go under $75-80. Let's see what happens in future when someone from France will sell this FDC.

Now if you see closely top 3 bidders then you will notice that these are dealers/reseller who already have 3-6 FDC or more  in their stock. Some of them bought very cheap from dealer/reseller from France and some even paid high price also so in order to keep the price up they are bidding on this item. They generally auction this FDC around $299-499.!!

This time if you see all 3 of them try to bid at last moment where as if you see previous bidding (look at my previous blog post about this) then they start bidding  initially to make price high. Click this link and you will find same bidders who are bidding on this also. This time they really want to buy this at cheap price.!! & want to sell it to us in future at higher price by offering same FDC with different id,  from different country etc.

Now it's up to all Mahatma Gandhi Collectors to decide how we can stop this or prevent this kind of activity. I leave it up to you to decide what you need to do.!!

But we all know what  are Mahatma Gandhi's Principles  "Boycott" and "Passive Resistant" and we all can try his principles and let's see what happens to this FDC in future.!!

I think price will eventually fall for this 2000 FDC which will come out of closet from FRANCE, same way currently from Lativa or Germany we can see  Nicragua OVERPRINT stamp of Gandhi with Eistein series or Nicragua Gandhi with TajMahal. once certain collectors/dealers/reseller will buy it to average their buying price. But they still regret as more and more this stamps are coming in market as price of this Overprint stamps are coming down.

I still have mine which I bought it for $150. so I lost $60 in 2 years (40% + interest)!! If there was enough information like this blog I will never buy this.!! Just keep patience and you will get it cheap in next couple of years. It's just matter of time. You can still exhibit with other countries FDC and it's not a great point that you don't have this FDC.

Let us know what you think about this Mahatma Gandhi Cameroun FDC.

Thanks

Looks like Bubble in Cameroun - Cameroon - KAMERUN 1968 Mahatma Gandhi - Ghandi FDC & also in other Gandhi stamps.!!!!!

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

“Let us learn to live simply, so that others may simply live.” — Mahatma Gandhi

I think this is really required in Gandhi Philatelic world.!! and we can do this ourselves by following some of the Gandhian principles!!, but it's hard to do that even though we all collect stamps of Mahatama Gandhi.

In last 2-3 years Cameroon Gandhi FDC is reduce from $295 to $112 so I did some research on this and following are my findings, which might help you also.

In 2010 Cameroon is 151st in GDP per head. Now you will be thinking what to do with this.!! So think what was GDP Per head income in 1968.

You all might know that in 1968 Republic of Cameroon issued Mahatma Gandhi Stamp, FDC, Souvenir Sheet, Triptychs, 1969 Overprint stamps with Moon Landing(WHY??), so it is really interesting for Gandhi collectors along with other world famous leaders(during 1960) like MLK, John Kennedy and Robert Kennedy. Why this many stamps (imperf and perf) with combination of leaders from Cameroon in 1968-1969?. Also I am not sure why they issued Mahatma Gandhi stamp in 1968 instead of 1969 when all 35+ countries issued stamp to honored Mahatma Gandhi 100th Birth Anniversary.

This looks like some Cameroon Post goverment worker or some private collectors or dealers were very smart and they know how to make money even in 1968-1969.!! Looks like this people were visonaries and we are still chasing them without thinking.!!

Even though Cameroon is very small poor country in Africa, Gandhi 1968 FDC from Cameroun is one of the most expensive.!! This is beauty of philatelic world.!! Smaller the country more expensive item it will be.!! Look at value of USA, UK, Germany Gandhi FDC value(US $1) which is afforable to all collectors even though they issued 1 stamp except USA who issued 2 stamps.

I think buying Cameroun Gandhi FDC for more than $75 will BURN you in future because of bubble in price(same way housing bubble in USA). I bought this for $150 which is low price compare to other buyer, but I am still affected by this and feels like I am Burned.!! This is similiar to Morrocco Gandhi FDC except price of Morrocco FDC is much lower.

Reason for my assumption this is not rare as more than 2000 were made in 1969 and still sleeping in someone closet and someone in Europe is getting richer when collector and reseller are trying to buy it or wants to increase price of their possesion.!! Also Cameroun stamps/sheets with overprint are also interesting including used covers with Gandhi Cameroun stamps which were sold in past for 300-500 US dollars.

Some of the early Gandhi collector already have this and there are very few collectors who still needs this but some cannot afford it or don't want to buy at current price it is selling.

Recently I saw 6 FDC Cameroun FDC was offered on ebay for $300 and none of them were sold.!! It's amazing that no one wants to buy it at that price.!!

Also 2 FDC on delcampe was not sold at $275 after that person bought it for $120-150 and try to quick sale.

In past 2 years I had seen only 5-6 sold and everytime price is getting lower even though some collectors, reseller and dealers are trying to increase it by bidding it so it stay upto certain level.!!

Some dealers/resellers are even get cheated as they are not aware of this current modern technology works.!!

1) First one on 4-26-2008 was bought by "Ganges1948" dealer in India for 294 dollars to resell it.!! It is still on ebay india store who is asking $500+ for this same FDC.(click above link to see more details). I don't think he will ever recover his cost.!! because he was cheated very badly by same person who try to cheat me.!!

2) Second one on 3-9-2009 was bought by me for $150. Acutually it was sold for $266. I was cheated here.!! Actually a Gandhi collector/reseller from UK who has 3-4 Cameroun Gandhi FDC wants to increase price of this FDC increase bid on this by opening a fake id "Khelka10" who has also bidded initally with his id. He did not paid and seller offered me this FDC at lower price!!. This purchase made me SMARTER.!! Also I got a good deal of $150 from buyer. (click above link to see more details)

3) 3-7-2010 sold for 214 buy "gdstamps" from Canada and bought by Indian dealer "eaglefila".

4) 5-14-2010 sold for 179 buy "MAXWELLBRUSHSTICK" from UK and bought by ??.

This seller is interesting. He was the one who introduce me to delcampe "delcampe id is Bullterrier" by specially putting fdc for me to sale. Also this seller sometimes auctioned some expensive Gandhi FDC. Seller is also a research topic.!!

5) In late 2010 2 piece of FDC was bought by "jamals" on delcampe for $120-140. I don't have more details of this.

6) Sixth FDC was purchased by "bipin8" for 112 $ at Fixed price. This buyer is also a research topic.!!

Following are some screen shot of all transactions about Cameroun Gandhi FDC.:-

As you saw that price is reduce from $295 to $112, so it's not worth buying this artifiical expensive(inflated) FDC.

So don't buy it for more than $75 and show your simplicity.!! Even $75 is too much.!!

DO YOU THINK THIS IS BUBBLE.??

Is it hobby with investment or scam in mind? !! Think before you buy any Gandhi Philately Material as it is very easy to make rubber stamp.!!!

This is how stamp printers and stamp dealers prosper!!

Why Cameroun Commerically Used Covers is costly?

Hello Gandhi collectors,

Recently (Feb 1st 2010) on ebay 2 commercially used covers were sold at very high price. This cover has Gandhi Overprint stamp from Cameroun which was issued in 1969 to celebrate landing on moon.

Following cover was sold for $250+ (US dollars).

Seller :- gorfa (Canada)
Buyer :-  bipin8 ( now speedbird1*) (UK)

I am not sure why they did this overprinting instead of making a new stamp?

Following cover also surpassed price paid for any Gandhi commercially used cover which was sold for $300+ (US dollars) also from Cameroun 1968 Gandhi(without overprint) stamp. Look at Maulik's blog post for more info. In my 16 months in this field this is most expensive commercially used Gandhi cover I had seen except 1948 India Gandhi commerically used covers with 10 Rupees stamp.

Following cover was sold for $450+ (US dollars).

Seller : gorfa (canada)
Buyer : nil101 (Germany)

Both covers has postmark cancel from sending and receiving countries. Also receiving country is USA where there are more stricter laws against postal fraud.

According to seller this registered mail cover was send from Yaounde to New York City. This first day covers were sent to J. & H. Stolow in New York City, perhaps the most important wholesale, new issue stamp dealers of their time. Either they arranged for a quantity of these to be produced, or the official in the post office sent these as samples to introduce an obviously multi-faceted topical philatelic production!

You can read my previous blog post about Overprint Gandhi stamps where I mentioned about J & H Stolow and overprint stamp which is itself a topic of further study.

Compare above cancellation on cover with following stamps and do more research.!!

Now my questions why this much money is paid for this kind of cover as they are made just to make profit at later dates (after 40 years!!)

Any comments are welcome.

Overprint GANDHI stamps

I was thinking that this overprint Gandhi stamps were error (knowing or unknowing) but I was not sure at all. Recently I came to know about J & H Stolow Inc. ( Julius and Henry Stolow).

This company was world largest stamp wholesaler until 1970. You can read more about them at wikipedia link which is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Stolow

Following are some of the Overprint stamps of Gandhi.

There are 2-3 more of this kind of stamp from this 2 countries.

After reading about J & H Stolow Inc and doing more research I found out that
1) They were preparing stamp for Africa and other smaller countries.
2) They did overprinting of stamps
3) And lot more.................

One of their overprinting link is following http://www.stampnotes.com/Today_in_Postal_History/033156.html

Now after reading this link and also about the J & H Stolow I am curious about Gandhi overprint stamps from Cameroun & Nigragua which are currently selling from some european countries where this J & H Stolow has some roots.
Until now I was thinking it is good item to collect after reading from different sources but now I am confused after my own research.

Also I am not sure what is the real value?

If someone has any more info than please add in comments or let me know so I can update this and provide more information to current as well as future new Gandhi collectors.

Thanks

Note:-
I think this is anothe example of making money using Gandhi. This stamps are selling currently on ebay.com for 30-50 dollars and on ebay.in (India) it is selling for enormous amount which is some where from 2000-10000 rupees which is ($40 -$200)
