Gandhi stamp on International Day of Peace 30th Anniversary cover and Mahatma Gandhi Peace Quotes.

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

I recently made 5 covers and sent them to my friends and my son to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of International Day of Peace, with philatelic point of view. This postal used cover has a1961 Mahatma Gandhi stamp( 4 cents) and 2011 Love stamp (44 cents) on it. (Love and Peace go together!!) Mahatma Gandhi peace quotes are also on the cover. Also hand postmark cancel from Fremont and Automatic machine cancel from Oakland, both on same date.

Don't you think Mahatma Gandhi and Peace goes together, same way like International Day of Non-Violence.

By making this cover it's my way to "Think Different" in philatelic world.!! I am not sure what is importance of this kind of covers to other philatelist, but for me it's fun to celebrate certain special events and remember it. If you are stamp collector then please let me know your thoughts about this cover.

http://www.un.org/en/events/peaceday/
The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by resolution 36/67 of the United Nations General Assembly to coincide with its opening session, which was held annually on the third Tuesday of September. The first Peace Day was observed in September 1982. In 2001, the General Assembly by unanimous vote adopted resolution 55/282, which established 21 September as an annual day of non-violence and cease-fire. The UN invites all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities during the Day, and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.

Also there were 2 events near by where I live. One in Fremont and other in Oakland. Luckily above cover has cancellation from both places and same date (21 Sept. 2011). In Fremont it was organised by Interfaith Women of Peace & in Oakland it was organised by Listen for Life.

                                        Malcolm X

Unveiling Ceremony Program and
Unveling Cermony Cover with Gandhi stamps and
autograph of Ruby Bridges & Mario Chiodo.
I made very limited covers with different combination of  Mother Teresa, MLK, Lincoln and FDR stamps with Gandhi stamps. Each cover has Gandhi stamps. Also this has cancellation from Oakland USPS Post Office dated September 6th 2011. Few covers were mailed through postal stream and few were cancelled and taken personally by me so it looks good and stay longer.Cool!!

Consider this as Genuine Cover with Cancellation from USPS. I take full responsibility of this covers.

Following are some pictures taken by me during ceremony.

Ruby Bridges, an African-American woman depicted in the sculpture for her pioneering integration into an all-white Louisiana elementary school in 1960 spoke during the ceremony along with a handful of the memorialized humanitarians' family members. I was lucky enough to meet with Ruby Bridges and got her autograph on "Unveiling Cover " (only 2 covers) with Mahatma Gandhi stamps. She also mentioned about Mahatma Gandhi during her speech.

Also this cover has autograph of sculptor Mario Chiodo on this cover.

Special Cancellation issued on 50th Anniversary of USA Mahatma Gandhi Stamp

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

Sorry for writing late on this 50th Anniversary Special Cancellation because I have to scan this. (as I can't get screen shot from EBay)!!

As all of you know that I write my opinion and investigation about Fake Special Cancellation of Mahatma Gandhi issued by different countries as well as regular post office cancellation on Mahatma Gandhi Philately material.

And as I  THINK DIFFERENT (look my other Think Different Cover) then others so I thought why not have a Genuine Special Cancellation of Mahatma Gandhi from USA and I worked on it to make it possible.

Don't try to criticize (same way like my previous Think Different Cover) that stamps on it are not straight,  extra postage, rectangle cancel instead of fancy or circular, it has multiple cancellation by machine,  hand postmark cancel & special cancellation, too big cancellation, no respect for Mahatma Gandhi by cancelling on face etc. Only thing is to make sure that Cancellation is Genuine and Officially issued by USPS as per their rules and regulation.

USA was 2nd country in world to issue Mahatma Gandhi stamp after India. On January 26th 1961 USA issued 120 million 4 cents stamp and 40 million 8 cents honoring Mahatma Gandhi with other Champions of Liberty series stamps.

On January 26th 2011, it was 50th Anniversary of USA Gandhi Stamp. So I decided to honored Mahatma Gandhi 50th Anniversary of USA Mahatma Gandhi Stamp by issuing Pictorial Cancellation. I worked with USPS Fremont, CA and make this possible.

I take FULL RESPONSIBILITY and CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC of this special cancellation so collectors don't need to waste time in investigation whether this is Genuine or Fake or possible forgery like I and Maulik have to weed out that from Germany, Nepal, Burma, Fiji, Czech Republic, Luxembourg etc.

It is mailed to my address by Certified mail. Also this special pictorial cancellation was designed by me and  issued(made) Officially by USPS, Fremont, CA.

I have all paper work and email communications with USPS post office.

This Special cancellation is rectangle shape (as per USPS guidelines and rules) which has
1) Picture of Medal of Mahatma Gandhi taken from USA Gandhi Stamp.
2) Description "Celebrating 50th Anniversary USA Mahatma Gandhi Stamp 1961-2011"
3) Station Name: Mahatma Gandhi Station
4) Date and Place of Issue : January 26, 2011, Fremont,CA 94539
5) Mahatma Gandhi Quotes :" Be the change that you want to see in the world"

Very limited quantity  cover were made by me with this special cancellation on 26th January 2011(Very Rare than 10 Rupees Gandhi Service Stamp!!!!)  and  I will be mailing this cover to my philatelic friends so please write a comment when you received this cover.

This special cancellation covered were mailed from 2 different post office from Fremont. (94539 & 94537). You can see this on Certified label. And one of them has machine cancellation also from Oakland, CA with date Jan 26 and time PM. Only 2 certified covers were mailed and other cover were regularly postal stream mailed (cost cutting & don't need to prove that it was officially stamped because I am taking Full responsibility) and some of them were just stamped with special cancellation without postal stream so it will remain clean without any barcode and also remain in good condition.

It is lot of work to make this Officially USPS special cancellation cover as it requires
1) To design special cancellation as per USPS guidelines, standard, rules and regulations. (lot of requirements)
2) Submit USPS  Application for Special Cancellation 10 weeks in advance.!!
3) Work and Followup for approval and pay certain fees if applicable.
4) Design Cover and Print it  (this is too much work too!!)
5) Affix stamp (specially old gummed one!!)
6) Getting Special Cancellation
7) Get hand postmark cancel of post office of same date.
8)  Wait to get in mail to see how it looks an d be happy or regret of sending in a mail.!!
9) Enjoy and be proud that you did it.

Now I wonder why collectors/dealers comes out with all kind of FAKE items. It is lot of work for Genuine work.

This experience helps me to find different FAKE FFC with special cancellation because of all standard requirement by USPS to make special cancellation.

But making this as per rules and regulation and by using right address I don't have to use Fake mailing addresses, Fake identity on ebay to sell or need help of philately friends to sell this covers and try to hide it. When I was little I was taught that one lie will make you speak other lie and eventually you will get caught.!!

If you have any questions, concerns, suggestion, advice and/or criticism then please write your comments  in this blog post  or use Contact US form on top or  you can write me email.

Mahatma Gandhi stamp on unique COKE Post office Postmark Cancel.

Hello Gandhi Philatelist,

Coco-Cola is one of the most famous brand in world and is also known as COKE.  Until August 14, 1964 there was a Post Office named after COKE but nothing to do with COKE or Coco-Cola.

Following postcard has Postmark Cancellation of COKE post office on Last Day of operation  with USA 4 Cents Mahatma Gandhi stamp on it.

This postcard was send to Post Mark Collector Club Museum. (PMMC Museum) in Ohio, USA.

You will never find this USPS postmark cancellation again as there is no post office named COKE anymore.!!

Thanks
Ketankumar Patel

Expensive USA Gandhi stamp Cover. T547 Space X-15 Rocket Plane Cover White Signed 4-21-61

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

One of the expensive cover with Gandhi Stamps was sold on ebay. Check it out.

Buyer: SRM2382
Price : $67
Seller: 3curls1wave

The North American X-15 rocket-powered aircraft/spaceplane was part of the X-series of experimental aircraft, initiated with the Bell X-1, that were made for the USAAF/USAF, NACA/NASA, and the USN.

The X-15 set speed and altitude records in the early 1960s, reaching the edge of outer space and returning with valuable data used in aircraft and spacecraft design. As of 2011, it holds the official world record for the fastest speed ever reached by a manned rocket-powered aircraft.

During the X-15 program, 13 of the flights (by eight pilots) met the USAF spaceflight criteria by exceeding the altitude of 50 miles (80 km) thus qualifying the pilots for astronaut status. The USAF pilots qualified for USAF astronaut wings, while the civilian pilots were later awarded NASA astronaut wings.

Of all the X-15 missions, two flights (by the same pilot) qualified as space flights per the international (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale) definition of a spaceflight by exceeding 100 kilometres (62.1 mi, 328,084 ft) in altitude.

According to me this is unique cover for space philatelist because of signature of some space person.

Thanks
KP.

FAKE FFC flown in Airbus A380 with Mahatma Gandhi USA stamp from New York to Frankfurt, Germany in First Flight.

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

Recently I saw New York to Frankfurt FFC with Gandhi USA 4 cents stamps flown by Lufthansa in new Airbus A380. I only have issue with  date on cancellation & special postmark Cancellation from New York.

Special Cancellation on both cover is not as per USPS standard.

On cancellation date stamp it is Feb 18, 2011  but has also another rubber stamp which indicates that first flight operated on Feb 28, 2011.

So how this is FFC if the cancellation on stamp has CDS 2 weeks in advance.!!

Lufthansa was officially landed on JFK airport for first time  on February 28th at 2:00pm. (Technically 2nd time. First time was in 2007 during test run.). And I believe it was flown back to Frankfurt on same day which is Feb 28.

As per my  research about FFC the date on cancellation should be date of First Flight departure from that particular airport so it should be Feb 28 not Feb 18.!!

After doing some research I don't find any information from USPS about this type of special cancellation just for First Flight Lufthansa from New York Post Office.

Looks like this is rubber stamp not postmark cancellation from USPS because postmark is not as per USPS standard special cancellation. ( I know this because I recently worked with USPS to make one for 50th Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi USA stamp, I will scan this and blog  in near future.)

Again if maker/seller of this cover has proof  such as email correspondence of application, approval etc please provide us so we can modify this blog post and also I might think about buying it. I am looking for Postmark Cancellation from United States Post Office, New York, NY.

Looking for 2 things about this FFC.

1) Why date is different on CDS and flight flown.
2) Proof of Cancellation is not as per USPS standard.

I will call this as  FAKE FFC or and if I don't want to call FAKE then I might come up with new thematic collection "Advance FFC"  or "Future FFC".!!.

Anyone has more info then please comment on this

Thanks
KP.

BTW: It's good that creator of this FFC  specify about the actual date of First Flight. There is no way to find First Flight dates of 1961, 1969, 1970 , 1985 covers unless you go through archives in library.

******* Also read about frogeries in German Postmark Cancel **********
While researching on this German Cancel I found very interesting material related to Germany postmark handstamp forgery.
It is very important to read before you buy any Gandhi related material from Germany including this as well as other FFC available from that country.

FFC from Hawaiian Airlines and Ballymahon 2010 Balloon cover with insufficient postage of Mahatma Gandhi USA Stamps.

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

Following 2 covers are very nicely done  FFC with colorful stamps, printing and rubber stamps of Balloon & USPS event cancel of airport if it is GENUINE.

For airmail international letter USPS required 98 cents postage stamps in 2010.  FFC on left which was mailed on July 31 2010 from Chicago, USA to Dublin, Ireland has insufficient postage. It has total of  90 cents only.  First Class postage stamp on the cover is United States stamps #4029 from 2006 valued $.39 first class, non-denomination stamps depicting Love Birds.
So total is 39+39+8+4= 90 cents. If there is insufficient postage than USPS will rubber stamp with "Postage Due". But sometimes USPS don't check this.!! and you will get the mail. But if you are making particular cover for event then it will not make sense unless you are making it ODD cover with insufficient postage stamp, stamp from different countries etc.

Also not sure whether this was flown officially in Balloon flight. If it is flown officially in Balloon then this cover is very cheap as it cost more to fly this kind of covers because of weight issue in balloon and you should know right person to carry cover for you.!!

Also not sure whether this was flown by balloon to Chicago to Ireland?

Also Ballymahon 2010 (40th Anniversary) was from 19-24 September and this cover was mailed on July 31 2010. !!

Also not sure which balloon it was flown by out of 44.

Lot of things to look in to this FFC to consider as GENUINE !!

Following FFC only has 44 cents stamps.!!

Not sure why this has stamp of USA as this cover is flown from Korea to Hawaii on 12-14 January 2011. It has already stamps from Korea.

As per USPS rates even postcard or letter(cover) required 98 cents for International postage stamps. so both cover postage stamps does not make sense.

I think USA Gandhi stamp is on cover, only to sell this cover to Gandhi Collectors.!! as no Gandhi stamp from South Korea.!!

Now you have to decide whether this is Genuine or FAKE and depending on that you add in your collection or you can start new theme of Mahatma Gandhi "Mahatma Gandhi travel world with insufficient postage"

My blog post also look colorful.!!

Thanks
KP.

USA Gandhi stamps on Rocket Fired with Satellite cover.

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

Recently I went to USA Rocket Philatelic exhibition and I found one cover with USA Gandhi stamps. It's interesting to see Gandhi stamps used on different covers.

From 1961-1964, 4 launches of American earth micrometeoroid satellite were done by USA as a part of space program.

First date: 6/30/1961 .
Last date: 11/6/1964 .

Following is some information about Rocket Launch.

Launch Date: 1961 June 30
Launch Site: Wallops Island.
Launch Complex: Wallops Island LA3.
LV Family: Scout.
Launch Vehicle: Scout X-1.
LV Configuration: Scout X-1 ST-5.
FAILURE: Third stage did not ignite, and the vehicle was destroyed..
Summary: Micrometeorite counter satellite (S-55)..

Wallops Island is a 6 square mile (15.5 km²) island off the east coast of Virginia, part of the barrier islands that stretch along the eastern seaboard of the United States of America.

The island is primarily used for NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, although the name also refers to the peninsula area surrounding the island for the purpose of mailing addresses.

CDS error on USA 4 cents Gandhi stamp from US Army -Air Force Postal Service

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

I think following is very rare amazing cover. Look at it and you decide.

I think it's amazing, not because error made by postal service employee but look at the coincidence with error in year as you can see 1961 correctly if you reverese this cover as "9" & "6" also blend with each other or you can see "1" in 1961 is stamped incorrectly for both "1".!!

I think it is "1" which is stamped incorrectly.

Also I saw one more cover with similar CDS error without Gandhi stamp. (But lost in transit to India).

Thanks
Ketankumar Patel.

USA Gandhi error stamp

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

In past 2 years I had seen lot of Gandhi Perf shift error, but recently I saw Perforation shift USA Gandhi 4 cents stamp.!!

One-way perforation mistakes occur when sheets of stamps are moved either vertically or horizontally during the perforation process.

Two-way perforation mistakes occur when sheets of stamps are moved both vertically and horizontally during the perforation process, instead of just one direction.

Following is example of One-way perf error.

If anyone knows more about Perf Shift USA Gandhi stamp than I would like to know following.

1) How many USA Gandhi stamps or sheets has Perf shift.?
2) Is this only in Gandhi 4 cents stamps or also in Gandhi 8 cents stamps?

Again thanks for reading this blog post and  Please share your thoughts in the comments section.

50th Anniversary USA Champions of Liberty Mahatma Gandhi Stamp

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

Now I am moving away from FAKE Gandhi Philatelic material and writing about 50th Anniversary of world's 5th Gandhi Stamp and 2nd country in world to issue this stamp.

USA was 2nd country in world to issue Mahatma Gandhi stamp after India. On January 26th 1961 USA issued 120 million 4 cents stamp & 40 million 8 cents honoring Mahatma Gandhi with other Champions of Liberty series stamps.

On January 26th 2011, it was 50th Anniversary of USA Gandhi Stamp.

Because of large quantity you will see this stamps on lot of used covers such as Missile launch, Navy covers, Army covers, Airport opening, FFC etc which makes it very interesting for collectors. Also sometimes you can find this stamps on Paquebot covers, RPO etc.

Think Different - Part 2 (Churchill & Gandhi)

Hello Gandhi Collector,

I am surprised by a USA collector/dealer who made above cover. In 1965 he was "Thinking Differently" and made this cover. Main point to look at this that Churchill & Gandhi together.

So don't look at Where is postmark cancel, How stamps are affixed on cover, Value of affixed stamps on cover(it's more than what's required in 1965), photo of Churchill used on cachcet, photo of tower used on cachect etc. Just enjoy cover as much you can without making a point/shot whoever made this and whoever is owning it right now or who did this whether it is Indian or Americian.!!

Learn from this cover and try to "Think Differently" instead of increasing value of Gandhi item by Shill bidding, FAKE Postmark Cancel, Making Fake Gandhi Used Register covers from Mauritius and other countries and lot of other things.

I really admire "Thinking Power" of that person who did all this effort to make this special FDC.

Once Winston Churchill called Gandhi "Naked Fakir".

Churchill quotes on Gandhi is "It is alarming and also nauseating to see Mr Gandhi, a seditious Middle-Temple lawyer, now posing as a fakir of a type well-known in the East, striding half-naked up the steps of the Vice-regal palace... to parley on equal terms with the representative of the King-Emperor"

Churchill opposed Mohandas Gandhi's peaceful disobedience revolt and the Indian Independence movement in the 1930s, arguing that the Round Table Conference "was a frightful prospect". Later reports indicate that Churchill favoured letting Gandhi die if he went on hunger strike.

So this is really interesting cover where 2 of them are together!! So this is known as positive creativity instead of negative creativity. So if someone Think Different they can do it both +ve or -ve things.

Also don't compare Apple and Oranges. Of course both taste good if it is purchased from good seller, but if it is purchase from bad seller than chance are it might not taste good. Also buyer will tell others that don't buy from that bad seller.!!! and also tell others to beware of buying from that bad seller. In Gandhi Philatelic world there are few bad sellers.!!

Any comments or concern are welcome and start Thinking Different.

"Think Different" Gandhi & Apple.

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

On April 3rd Apple came out with IPAD. You might be wondering what to do with IPAD & Gandhi Philately.!!

"Think Different" was an advertising slogan created for Apple Computer in 1997 . It was used in a famous television commercial & several print & billboard advertisment for Apple products with Images of different famous people around the world including Gandhi, Einstein, Martin Luther King etc. Apple's use of the slogan was discontinued with the start of the Apple Switch ad campaign in 2002.

(image update on 4/28/10 so readers can see 44 cents stamps)

I understand about using images of MLK, Einstein, Dalai Lama, Muhammed Ali (boxer) & others but Gandhi has great power as an icon from 1890- till today and also in future. If you look at him and you think about him than you will really impressed by his thinking "Think Different" who believed in simplicity, calm, rebellion without violence.

When he died, all his belongings -- Bhagavad Gita (Hindu holy book), his toothbrush & khadki cloth, fit inside couple of shoe boxes. Also he has no "WILL" and so no royalty of his books goes to his family members. So Apple Mac, iMac, iPod, iTouch, iPhone, iPad & i......? are simplicity in look.

So on 3rd April I also started "Think Different"and made a event cover during IPAD deputs.

This is a genuine postmark cancel from USPS postoffice with Gandhi stamp on the cover.

I also started thinking other than Gandhi Rubber Stamps.!! "Think Different"
I know this is not a great Gandhi cover or event related to Gandhi, but I think differently.!! Also all things here are genuine such as stamp, postmark cancel and also photo. Photo is used as per APPLE Inc. guidelines with corporate logo of Apple and also mentioned about "Courtsey of Apple Inc" on my envelope(Event Cover). Following is the link for photos and Apple guidelines.
http://www.apple.com/pr/pics/thinkdiffads.html

Any comments are welcome. Thanks for reading & start thinking differently like Gandhi.!! Don't think like Apple.!!
